The legislative session may be over, but the battle over pension reform is raging on.
Tomorrow in Pike County, Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear is scheduled to address educators, other state employees and the public at-large at an event at Pike Central High School. The event is a follow-up to Beshear’s appearance at Shelby Valley High School earlier this month.
The event is organized by the education advocacy group Pike County Strong. Anyone seeking information on Beshear’s pending lawsuit against Gov. Matt Bevin in regard to the controversial pension reform bill Senate Bill 151 is invited to attend.
The event with Attorney General Andy Beshear will be held at 4:30 Thursday afternoon in the Pike Central gymnasium. The event is open to the public.
Read below from a joint press release from Pike County Strong and AG Beshear.
“The General Assembly recently passed a pension reform bill that makes major changes for current and future teachers, police officers, fire fighters and social workers. Attorney General Andy Beshear has challenged the legality of the bill and is seeking to have it thrown out.
“On Thursday, April 26, at 4:30, AG Beshear will discuss the bill and the legal challenge. The event will be held at the Pike County Central High School gymnasium. This event is open to all Public School teachers and staff (retired and active), police officers, firefighters, social workers and anyone concerned about the future of Kentucky.
“The purpose of the event is to help us all better understand the process and ask AG Beshear questions about the pension lawsuit.”
Pike County Strong co-organizer Patricia Lea Collins discusses the event in the attached video.
