Kentucky’s schools closed until at least May 1

Schools in Kentucky will now be closed throughout the month of April.

Pike County Schools personnel were informed on Thursday that Gov. Andy Beshear had ordered all of the state’s school districts to continue non-traditional instruction, or NTI, until May 1. Pike Schools administrators were unable to officially comment on the governor’s order.

Beshear held a conference call with all of the state’s superintendents on Thursday. He indicated earlier in the week that an extension of the previous closure, which was set to run through April 20, would be considered, given the extension of social distancing guidelines by the federal government through the end of the month.
