There are continuing signs that the latest surge of the virus is on the decline.

Over the weekend, more than 8,332 new cases were reported, which is nearly 1,400 fewer cases than the previous weekend.

The current total is more than 242,000.

Eighty-one more Kentuckians have died, raising the death toll to 2,397.

More than 1,600 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, including 403 in intensive care and 226 on ventilators.

The state’s positivity rate is currently 8.73 percent.
