FROZEN CREEK, Ky. — One person is dead following a plane crash Monday in Breathitt County.
It happened just after 1:30 p.m. Monday, when a single-engine plane went down at the intersection of Route 1812 and 378, at Frozen Creek.
Firefighters responding to the scene found the plane wreckage engulfed in flames. After putting out the fire, they discovered human remains inside.
On Tuesday, the victim was identified as Timothy Michael Pankiewicz, 62, of Green Cove Springs, Fla. The FAA says he was flying from Florida to Ohio when the crash happened.
The incident remains under investigation.
