WASHINGTON, D.C. — There has been developing news today out of the nation’s capital, where officials have given the go-ahead for a proposed federal prison in Letcher County to move forward. Congressman Hal Rogers made the announcement this afternoon.

Rogers says the project is a win-win scenario for everyone involved, providing much-needed jobs in Eastern Kentucky, and giving the government some relief from prison overcrowding.
