PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — Protection4Paws announced Tuesday, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department has been awarded an Ultimate K9 Safety Kit through it’s grant program.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit Drago was awarded roughly $2,800 in equipment. The funds used to purchase the equipment were from sales and donations received at the Road Dawg Rumble. Protection4Paws is a Pennsylvania based charity organization whose mission is to supply law enforcement K9 units with the items needed to protect them while they protect us.
“The Hot-N-Pop what is does is it monitors the temperature inside cars. So if, for some reason my air conditioner quit working, it would alert my cellphone and it would sound an alarm in the car,” said Deputy Sheriff Justin Szymchack. “It would roll the windows down and turn the fan on.”
“He’s my partner. He sees a lot of drugs. I think a total street value of $30,000 we’re up to right now of drugs that he’s taken off the street. I’m gonna look out for him because he looks out for me. Getting this equipment is going to help me make sure he’s safe and it also helps me be safe.”
