Magoffin County schools will be closed Wednesday as many stop to remember a long time educator.

Russell Howard, who served as Assistant Principal at North Magoffin Elementary School since 2008, passed away Sunday at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.

He was in his 26th year as an educator with Magoffin County Schools.

During his tenure, Howard also coached basketball at the elementary level and baseball at the Magoffin County High School.

Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon at 1pm at the First Baptist Church.

Howard was 50 years old.
