PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County woman is learning the hard way that the principle of finders-keepers doesn’t work out so well in the real world.

Police say Kristie Gerdes, 37, of Pikeville, found a debit card another customer had left behind at the Walmart self-checkout. Instead of turning it in, they accuse her of paying for her items with it, then using it for two purchases at Little Caesar’s.

Gerdes was arrested on Tuesday. She is now charged with second-degree forgery, which is a felony, as well as a misdemeanor count of fraudulent use of a credit card.
