Logan County, WV — Firefighters battled cold temperatures and fire during the overnight in Logan, West Virginia. According to fire officials, a large vacant building erupted in flames just before 1:00 AM. The building was formerly the Fox Apartment Building but had been vacant in recent months. Authorities report that the building was often occupied by transients. The front of the building collapsed onto a truck parked on Stratton Street. That street is closed until further notice in Logan. Nearby apartments suffered smoke and water damage and about 35 residents of that building are currently displaced. The cause of fire is under investigation by the Logan Fire Department and State Fire Marshal’s Office. No injuries were reported.
