Man allegedly flees police over warrant that didn’t exist

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — A Paintsville man faces a number of charges, after he allegedly ran away from an officer who had stopped to talk to him.

Just before 3 a.m., Tuesday, the officer spotted 33-year-old Jonathan Dale around Woodland Court. The officer recognized Dale as a potential suspect in some recent burglary and auto theft cases, so he stopped to talk to him.

But Dale allegedly ran away, leading to a long foot chase that ended when the officer found him hiding in a van.

According to the police report, Dale would not obey police commands and began fighting with the officer, resulting in another officer using a taser on him, twice.

Dale reportedly told officers he ran because he thought there was a warrant for his arrest, but that turned out not to be the case.

He was arrested and charged with fleeing police, assault, resisting arrest and other charges.
