PIKEVILLE, Ky. — What began as a speeding ticket turned into more serious charges for a Mingo County man Sunday night.
A state trooper attempted to pull over 30-year-old Donald Workman after clocking him going 85 miles an hour along U.S. 119 in Pike County, near the Meta exit.
However, the officer writes that Workman did not stop, instead turning onto Route 1428 and fleeing at a speed of 70 miles an hour. He then turned onto Route 194 toward Kimper and allegedly continued to flee for three more miles, before crashing into a tree.
The officer wrote in his report that Workman said he fled because his license was expired and he knew he had active warrants in Mingo County.
He was arrested on fugitive and fleeing charges, as well as a long list of traffic violations.
