LOST CREEK, Ky. — A Breathitt County man made it easy for police to charge him, by reportedly stating in a recorded interview after his arrest that he is a “drug dealer.”
But it was the arrest that was a little more difficult.
Police were called to a report of a gun theft at Lost Creek on Monday. On his way to the scene, a state trooper spotted the suspect, 33-year-old Daniel Hurt, jump into a car and take off down a dirt road. A short distance later, Hurt bailed out of the car and ran away on foot, but was caught after 100 yards.
During the foot chase, the officer saw Hurt toss a bag. When he retrieved the bag, the trooper found it contained 24 grams of meth in individually wrapped plastic bags.
Hurt is now charged with meth trafficking, fleeing police and DUI.
