Floyd man arrested for trying to steal phone cable

HAROLD, Ky. — A Floyd County man was arrested after he allegedly tried to steal phone lines.

Coalfields Telephone experienced an outage Monday along Salem Church Road at Harold. When they went to inspect phone lines in the area, they found about 300 feet of phone line had been cut and damaged.

They also found Arnold Mosley, 41, of Auxier, lying in the weeds, with cable cutters, utility knives and brush cutters.

Mosley reportedly told police he was unable to find a job because of a previous felony conviction and he needed to pay a $333 power bill because he had children at home and was afraid he his power would be cut off.

He was arrested and charged with theft and possession of burglary tools.

Mosley pleaded guilty to a federal charge of conspiracy to distribute oxycodone back in 2012.
