Pikeville, KY — An Elkhorn City man is in jail after assaulting his wife in Pikeville. According to the arrest citation, Pikeville Police responded to the 6th floor of Myers Towers Monday afternoon to a domestic assault in progress complaint. Officers saw 33-year-old Cody Cantrell in the hallway of the complex. Officers report that Cantrell appeared to be sweaty and unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech. Cantrell told officers he was coming down from meth. Officers then checked on the victim, Cantrell’s wife and found she had red marks around her neck and stated to police that Cody Cantrell had strangled her. Cantrell’s wife said the two had been arguing over his meth use. She also stated that Cody Cantrell had struck her twice in the face. Cody Cantrell was taken into custody and transported to the Pike County Detention Center and charged with Strangulation 1st degree, Assault 4th degree and Public Intoxication of a controlled substance.
