Letcher County, KY — Kentucky State Police Troopers at the Hazard Post are investigating a logging accident. According to authorities, the incident occurred at a logging site of Highway 931 near Whitesburg Tuesday morning. Troopers responded along with Letcher EMS and Pine Mountain Rescue. They found 48-year-old Jimmy Branson of Whitesburg unresponsive. Letcher County Deputy Coroner Derek Meade pronounced Branson deceased at the scene. Initial investigation indicates that Branson was struck by a limb when a tree was cut down near him. An autopsy will be performed at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort.
