Pikeville, KY — A Pikeville man has been arrested after fleeing from police. According to the arrest citation, Pikeville Police were called to the Shelbiana Food City regarding a welfare check on a man and a woman. The man, 31-year-old Jonathan A. Bentley of Pikeville, appeared intoxicated, had red glassy eyes and slurred speech. Bentley fled from the officer to the back of the store, ran out of a rear door, and jumped in the river beside the store. Bentley was located a short time later at a residence on Old Shelbiana Road. Bentley was charged with Public Intoxication of a controlled substance, Disorderly conduct and fleeing or evading police and was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
