Pikeville, KY — An assault complaint landed a Pikeville man in jail. According to an arrest citation, 28-year-old John McAnallen allegedly assaulted two men near Velocity Market in the Sunrise Plaza on Hambley Boulevard in Pikeville Wednesday night. When Pikeville Police officers arrived, McAnallen yelled obscenities at police and bystanders and ran from the officers. Officers deployed a taser and began to scuffle with McAnallen on the ground. McAnallen then began kicking, spitting at and biting the officers and another taser was used. McAnallen was handcuffed and finally shackled by officers and taken to Pikeville Medical Center for treatment of a possible drug overdose. After being medically cleared, McAnallen was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center and charged with assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication and Fleeing or Evading police on foot.
