Perry County, KY — A disagreement in Perry County Sunday afternoon left one man hospitalized with a gunshot wound and another lodged in jail on an assault charge. Deputies with Perry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting incident in the Willard community at approximately 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 13 assisted with the investigation. It was initially determined that an altercation had occurred between 23-year-old William Strong Jr and 58-year-old Lee Roy Colwell, both of Willard. During the altercation Lee Roy Colwell yielded a handgun and allegedly shot William Strong Jr. once in the abdomen before fleeing the scene. Strong was taken to Hazard ARH for treatment of injuries. Colwell was located by deputies and was taken into custody without incident. Colwell was charged with one count of Assault 1st Degree and lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
