Mingo County sees biggest COVID-19 case jump to date Wednesday

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — The Mingo County Health Department reported the county’s biggest one-day COVID-19 case jump on Wednesday.

According to the health department, eight people, including a husband and wife and a mother and daughter, were confirmed as Mingo County’s newest COVID-19 patients on Wednesday. Half of the newly-confirmed cases were symptomatic, but none required hospitalization.

According to the health department, the new cases included:
• Female, 58, asymptomatic, isolating at home
• Female, 44, symptomatic, isolating at home
• Female, 35, asymptomatic, isolating at home
• Female, 16, asymptomatic, isolating at home
• Female, 43, symptomatic, isolating at home*
• Male, 44, symptomatic, isolating at home*
• Female, 47, symptomatic, isolating at home
• Female, 27, symptomatic, isolating at home

The new cases brought Mingo County’s total case count to 36 confirmed cases of COVID-19. According to the health department, 15 of the county’s cases remain active.

As of this publishing, the Mingo County Health Department had not announced any new cases on Thursday.
