Mingo County’s COVID-19 case count drastically increases

The case count for COVID-19 in Mingo County took a drastic jump over the weekend and into Monday.

According to the Mingo County Health Department, the county has experienced 20 new positive cases of COVID-19 over the three-day period from Saturday to Monday. The county’s case count now stands at 67, an increase of 50 cases in the month of July.

According to the health department, all but one of the newly-confirmed COVID-19 patients are exhibiting symptoms of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. The health department also says all of Mingo County’s active COVID-19 patients are isolating at home, and contact tracing efforts are underway.

As of 3 p.m. Monday, there has been 2,170 COVID-19 tests performed in Mingo County, with 67 lab-confirmed positive cases, and two “probable” cases, the health department says, with 2,101 people testing negative for COVID-19. The health department says 27 people have been confirmed to have recovered from COVID-19 in Mingo County, and two people from Mingo County have died as a result of COVID-19.

• 47-year-old female with symptoms.
• 26-year-old male with symptoms.
• 17-year-old male with symptoms.
• 49-year-old female with symptoms.
• 48-year-old female with symptoms.
• 46-year-old male with symptoms.
• 40-year-old male with symptoms.
