Mingo COVID-19 recoveries increased significantly Friday

The Mingo County Health Department’s COVID-19 case recovery count increase significantly on Friday.

According to the health department, 25 people were verified on Friday as having recovered from the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. That increase raised Mingo County’s recoveries to 95 people as of the end of the day Friday. The health department also announced that one COVID-19 patient was removed from a ventilator and was improving.

The announcements came at the end of a rough week for Mingo County, which experienced three deaths over just four days from Monday, Aug. 3, through Thursday, Aug. 4.

The health department announced on Monday that the county added eight new COVID-19 cases over the weekend, bringing the county’s total case count to 189 cases. Mingo County’s positivity rate for COVID-19 testing stood at 6.1 percent as of Monday morning.
