FLOYD COUNTY, KY.–A video posted on social media Wednesday showing a student beating on another student at Prestonsburg High School has spurred outrage around the region. Floyd County School Superintendent Steve Trimble quickly issued a statement on social media acknowledging the incident and says that law enforcement was notified and the administration of Prestonsburg High School along with the Floyd County School District Central Office is handling the situation according to school policies. Now, the mother of the boy being attacked in the video has responded to the incident.
“What happened to my son today at Prestonsburg High School was heinous. We appreciate all the support offered to us from his family, friends, and coaches. We believe that he will be ok in time. I don’t think someone goes through an ordeal like this without some kind of repercussions. I hope to continue to see justice served so that something like this doesn’t happen to the next kid.”
