Knott County, Ky.–It happened just before 6pm Wednesday at a residence on Hemp Patch Branch Road in the Pippa Passes-Caney community of Knott County as Kentucky State Police Trooper Leo Slone and Knott County Sheriff Deputy Robbie Slone were attempting to serve a warrant.

Officials on scene say while serving the warrant they heard yelling and screaming coming from underneath the residence.  Officers found Christopher Jacobs, who had active warrants, hiding under the trailer. Jacobs eventually came out from under the trailer and ran to his vehicle in an attempt to flee.

“Deputy Slone then tried to physically get Mr. Jacobs out of the vehicle at which time he put the vehicle in gear and accelerated forward dragging Deputy Slone. The vehicle then struck Deputy Slone’s cruiser and then Mr. Jacobs put the vehicle in revers and was moving toward Trooper Slone, at which time he fired his issued weapon striking Mr. Jacobs. The Trooper and the Deputy both rendered CPR to Mr. Jacobs at the scene until EMS arrived, but ultimately the coroner responded to the scene and pronounced Mr. Jacobs deceased there.”

A nearby neighbor says Jacobs was always good to him and his family

“I was on my back porch and I heard five or six shots and the next thing I know the coroner was coming up the road. He was the best fella ever was, help you do anything. He was always polite to me, always good to my wife, good to my kids. I’m going to miss him, my wife is going to miss him, and we are all going to miss him. We watched him grow up in this holler. I mean he has been in this holler and he got killed in this holler.”

The incident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.
