Officials clean brush fire in Knott Co.

CARR CREEK, Ky. — Officials in Knott County, Monday, worked for about an hour to knock out a brush fire.

It happened in Carr Creek near the Carr Creek Lake Marina. The Kentucky Division of Forestry was called to a 1-acre fire beside the lake. The fire was believed to have started because of a construction issue on the bridge on Route 15.

It is Forest Fire Hazard Season in Kentucky. The season began on February 15th and will last throughout April. During fire seasons, it is illegal to burn anything within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland between the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Officials add, however, this season has been uneventful thus far.

The Kentucky Division of Forestry was assisted by local fire departments during Monday’s brush fire.
