UPDATE: One person is dead following a crash in Pikeville .

According to a statement from Pikeville Public Safety, a female passenger involved in a crash on Chloe Road early Tuesday afternoon died shortly after the wreck. She was identified as 24-year-old Kara Patrick, of Pikeville.

According to the statement, the Pikeville 911 Center began receiving calls of a two-vehicle crash near the AT&T offices off Chloe Road shortly after 1 p.m. When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found two people, including Patrick, injured in one of the vehicles. The statement said she had to be extricated from the vehicle, and both of those injured were transported to Pikeville Medical Center.

The statement said Patrick was pronounced dead at the PMC Emergency Room.

The accident occurred during Tuesday’s snowstorm, but authorities have not specified whether road conditions contributed to the incident. The crash remains under investigation.
