Opening day of deer archery season will open a week later than usual

In recent years, deer archery season in Kentucky has opened on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.  However, officials with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife are reminding bow hunters that season opens a week later this year on Saturday, September 7th.  Conservation Officer Sgt. Homer Pigman says another big change is the extension of crossbow season, which is only two weeks shorter, overall, than archery season.  Crossbow season for deer opens on September 21st.  Both seasons run through January 20, 2020.  For more information and regulations for fall hunting seasons in Kentucky, go to https://fw.ky.gov/Hunt/Pages/Deer-Hunting-Zones-and-Seasons.aspx.
