Pikeville, Ky: Operation UNITE is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. UNITE takes a three-pronged approach to combat substance abuse. The program launched in April 2003 by Congressman Hal Rogers in response to news coverage of widespread prescription painkiller abuse. UNITE serves 32 counties in southern and eastern Kentucky. UNITE President and CEO Nancy Hale visited the UNITE Pike meeting during its May meeting yesterday.
“Our goal is to facilitate recovery, to create hope, to prevent drug abuse. We do that through a holistic approach of using aw enforcement, treatment, and education; ringing those three groups together who each have their own purpose in reducing drug abuse.”
This year, Operation UNITE is offering 22 scholarships for it’s “I Am UNITE” scholarship program.
