Paintsville to apply for community greenhouse grant

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — The Paintsville/Johnson County Garden Club is applying for a grant to build a community greenhouse.

The garden club is hoping to grow its own plants to beautify the city and county. The plants would be used for the hanging baskets located outside of businesses and city buildings and along sidewalks. If the garden club is awarded the grant, it will be worth $25,000.

Paintsville Mayor Bill Mike Runyon says the grant will cover the cost of materials and construction.

A special called meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 18th, at noon at Paintsville City Hall. During the meeting, a resolution for the application will be submitted.
