PIKEVILLE, KY.-Although we are almost two weeks from the tragic day that Pikeville City Police Officer Scotty Hamilton was shot and killed in the line of duty, he continues to be remembered and honored on a daily basis. At tonight’s Pikeville City Commission Meeting a moment of silence was held for Officer Scotty Hamilton, for one-minute and eleven seconds. Pikeville City Police Chief Chris Edmonds says there continues to be an overwhelming amount of love and support still being shown from not only the city of Pikeville, but across the country and beyond.
“It’s just an ongoing show of support still from this community and our local government here. It’s usually about 100 pieces of mail a day and today was no exception as there was about 80-85 pieces of mail today. They come from other police departments, other city governments and just general people sending condolences. It’s just ongoing support and sympathy cards from everywhere.”
Chief Edmonds went on to say that everything he and his department do from here on out is in the memory of Officer Scotty Hamilton.
