A busy roadway in Pikeville will remain closed overnight.
According to a bulletin from Pikeville Public Safety, Chloe Road, which stretches between downtown Pikeville and U.S. 460, will remain closed overnight in the area of Pikeville First Christian Church. The roadway was blocked by a significant mudslide Thursday morning during the course of the ongoing heavy rainfall event covering the region.
Pikeville 911-Public Safety Director Paul Maynard says the closure could be in effect into Friday evening. Travelers are encouraged to continue seeking an alternate route around the slide.
Pikeville Fire-EMS has staged emergency vehicles on the U.S. 460 side of the slide in order to be prepared for emergency responses in that area of the city.
