Pikeville woman arrested for meth and gun possession

Angel McCoy of Pikeville

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pikeville woman was arrested after trying to hide a gun in her shorts during a traffic stop.

While patrolling Mt. Martha Drive after receiving numerous drug complaints, Pikeville police officers stopped a vehicle and discovered the driver had an active warrant.

While officers were talking to the driver police say a passenger — Angel McCoy, 31, of Pikeville — was sweating and appeared nervous. According to the arrest citation, police witnessed McCoy place her hand in the front of her shorts and put something in the waistband. Police then asked McCoy to exit the vehicle. She then pulled on her waistband and a loaded handgun allegedly fell into her hand. Police say McCoy told them she had stolen the gun.

Before being lodged in the Pike County Detention Center, McCoy allegedly dropped a bottle which contained crystal meth and several pills.

Angel McCoy was charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon, promoting contraband and drug possession.
