PIKEVILLE, Ky, – Pikeville police officers responding to a motorist assist call early Wednesday morning ended up finding much more than someone having car trouble. It all began shortly after midnight when an officer stopped to check on the vehicle on U.S. 23 near the near the Floyd – Pike County line. According to the arrest citation, while speaking to the woman, officers noticed she had slurred speech and could barely keep her eyes open. The citation states she admitted she had been driving and struck a concrete barrier. Officers located a black case inside the vehicle which contained a white, crystal-like substance believed to be meth and a glass pipe. They arrested 44-year-old Shawna Kay Rose of Pikeville and charged her with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, first degree possession of a controlled substance, which is a felony, possession of drug paraphernalia, and having no proof of insurance. She remains lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
