Police investigate alleged threat at Belfry Middle School

BELFRY, Ky. –  An extra police presence at a Pike County middle school this week along with talk of a alleged threat helped fuel rumors that upset many parents.  Deputies with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office were at Belfry Middle School Thursday and Friday, after a student allegedly saw a threat written on a desk during school on Wednesday.  Pike County School Superintendent Reed Adkins says they took immediate action once it was brought to their attention, and notified the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.   Sheriff Rodney Scott says they were not able to find evidence of an actual threat, and the extra police presence was to reassure students and faculty of their safety.
