Police respond to threats at Lawrence County High

LOUISA, Ky. — State troopers were called to Lawrence County twice yesterday, to deal with complaints of threats.

Kentucky State Police post 14 was first called to the school over a report that a student had threatened violence at the school. But when troopers investigated, they found the report to be unfounded and based solely on rumors started by a female student.

That student has since been disciplined by the school.

Police were called a second time over another, unrelated threat, and this time they found evidence to back it up. A 17-year-old student was discovered to have made statements that he planned to stage a shooting at the school.

That student now faces criminal charges of second-degree terroristic threatening. He was arrested and placed in the Boyd County Juvenile Detention Center.
