Police in one Pike County city are investigating after two dogs were allegedly abandoned at a shopping center, and one of the dogs was allegedly run over.
Coal Run Police received a tip at approximately 10 a.m. Monday that a female in a black Jeep Cherokee had set out two puppies in a shopping center at Weddington Branch, and had actually run over one of the puppies as she drove away from the scene. Coal Run Police Chief Jason Ray said the person who allegedly abandoned the dogs and ran one of them over is facing criminal charges.
The puppies are currently under treatment by veterinarian Dr. Dustin Anderson in Pikeville. His office said the dogs are still being treated, but are in stable condition.
