INEZ, Ky. — A reward is being offered for information about a burglary case in Martin County.

“They were in here a total of two minutes,” said Horn’s Fuel Stop owner Everett Horn.

Around 2:30 Wednesday morning, two people broke into Horn’s Fuel Stop on North Milo Road in Inez. The two allegedly smashed a door with a brick and entered the convenience store.

“They actually broke the glass. Well, they didn’t really break it out, but they got it to where they could come under the door,” added Horn.

Horn got a call from his security company Wednesday morning and rushed to the gas station to try to catch the alleged thieves himself.

“So, I missed them by about three minutes. I guess I’m glad I did because, you know, I might have shot them or something. I don’t know.”

The alleged burglars stole about $2,500 worth of cigarettes as well as quarters from a coin pusher game. Damages to the building and coin machine will cost about the same. The store lost well over $5,000 in the incident.

“I think it’s somebody local,” Horn said. “Because they weren’t in a car, they ran down the road and they knew exactly where everything was at.”

Horn is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the two people.

The incident remains under investigation by Deputy Aaron Blevins with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
