Road Master, Roads Scholar credentials earned by 33 at Highway District 12

Thirty-three men from Highway District 12 recently earned one or both credentials as Roads Scholars and Road Masters. The district includes seven counties in Eastern Kentucky: Floyd, Johnson, Knott, Lawrence, Letcher, Martin, and Pike. Information Officer of Highway District 12 Sara George says that the training is extensive as the required courses for a Road Scholar certification include Basic Work Zone and Flagger qualifications, Traffic Management through Signals, Signs, and Markings, Asphalt Paving Practices, and Construction of Concrete. Road Master coursework includes Environment Awareness, Snow and Ice Removal, etc. George says that these classes are crucial to keeping our roads safe and clear during the winter season. These certifications were provided by the Technology Transfer Program and the UK College of Engineering Transportation Center.
