Pikeville, KY — The search continues today to find a missing kayaker in Pike County. The search was halted as night fell but crews are once again staging behind Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Pikeville to begin searching again. 47-year-old Paris Smith of Joe’s Creek in Pikeville went missing late Wednesday night after becoming separated from a group of kayakers on the Levisa Fork of the Big Sandy River. Search crews will be using a drone from the Pike County Emergency Management Friday morning before boats are put in. Also, agencies from across the region and as far away as Tennessee have sent boats and manpower to assist in the search with additional resources on standby, ready to respond if needed.
