Perry County, KY — Kentucky State Police at the Hazard Post are investigating a shooting Sunday afternoon that resulted in one man being hospitalized and another arrested. Troopers with Post 13 responded to the shooting complaint in the Slemp community in Perry County. The initial investigation has determined that Darrel Cress and Jim Slone were involved in an altercation in the parking lot of the Front Porch General Store where Jim Slone shot Darrel Cress once in the chest. Cress was air lifted to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee where he is listed in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. Slone was arrested and charged with one county of Assault 1st degree and lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail. The incident remains under investigation.
