Pikeville, KY — An alleged shoplifter at Walmart led police in a foot chase. Pikeville Police responded Wednesday afternoon to a shoplifting complaint. Officers say bystanders informed them that the suspect, 27-year-old Nichole Whetstone of Mount Savage, Maryland fled from Walmart into Food City. When Officers arrived at Food City, Whetstone was coming out, turned and ran back inside and locked herself in a stall in the women’s bathroom and refused to come out. After a brief time, Whetstone emerged from the stall and began to jerk away from the Officer as she was being placed under arrest. As she was led out of the store, she continued to shout obscenities causing a disturbance to shoppers. Whetstone was charged with 3rd degree Burglary, Fleeing or evading Police, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. She remains lodged in the Pike County Detention Center. The amount taken from Walmart in merchandise totaled $82.30.
