PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — Rebekah Skaggs, a retired Johnson County educator and former Kentucky Education Association (KEA) Uniserv Director, has officially launched her campaign for Kentucky’s 97th House District, representing all of Johnson and Martin Counties and the northern region of Pike County.

A lifelong advocate for educators, children, and her faith community, Rebekah is entering the race with a mission to restore common sense and integrity to Frankfort. She is challenging the notion that elected office should be reserved for career politicians, calling instead for professional, experienced voices in the state capital.
“If we are not in service to make our community a better home for all our neighbors, we are in it for the wrong reasons,” says Rebekah Skaggs. “My commitment is simple: service over politics.”
Rebekah outlined her vision and motivation in a direct appeal to voters: “I plan to listen, learn, and lead as your next State Representative. I’m not a politician, and I never planned to be one. But the 97th District deserves an experienced, professional leader fighting for regular folks who act with integrity in Frankfort.
“I am a Teacher. I am a Neighbor. I am a Leader.
“I didn’t enter this race to place runner-up; I entered it to win! Not for myself, but to create a better, brighter future for every family right here in Johnson, Martin, and Pike Counties. I truly believe in our campaign slogans: ‘All Means Y’all’ and ‘No Hate In My Holler.’”
Rebekah “Becky” Skaggs’ campaign will focus on improving public education resources and pay, revitalizing our infrastructure, strengthening local economies, lowering costs, and ensuring responsive and accessible government for the 97th District.
