An electrical mishap forced the partial evacuation of a Letcher County hospital.

Whitesburg Fire Chief Gary Mullins told EKB News that a light fixture malfunctioned Saturday afternoon in a utility room at Whitesburg ARH Hospital. Mullins said smoke filled a portion of the hospital’s third floor.

The incident happened near the Intensive Care Unit, and the unit was evacuated for a short time. Mullins said there was no damage to the hospital and no injuries were reported.
