Students honor Officer Scotty Hamilton

Pikeville, Ky: Last night we brought you the story of the signing of an ordinance that officially changed the name of East Street in downtown Pikeville to Scotty Hamilton Way.  That resulted in a change of address for the Pikeville Police Department to 111 Scotty Hamilton Way. That was not the only gesture to honor Officer Scotty Hamilton during the Pikeville City Commission meeting. The University of Pikeville’s Student Government Association presented a plaque to Pikeville City Police Chief Chris Edmonds.

“To show our appreciation to them and send our condolences, as they just lost a fellow officer. To show them our appreciation to the service and sacrifices that they make everyday. I think it’s very important that young people get involved in what’s going on in there community. Also I think it’s very important hat the university has a good relationship with the community, because we work together a lot whether we know it or not. So I just wanna build that community campus relationship as well.”
