The phrase, “a fed bear is a dead bear” is more than just catchy.  It’s the truth.  Fish and Wildlife officers and biologists in southeastern Kentucky have been battling the problem of people feeding black bears near the side of the road just to get a closer look.  However, they say that behavior is causing the bears to lose their natural fear of humans.  When that happens, biologists say relocating the bear is not effective, and euthanasia is the only option left.
