Two arrested after police find drugs scattered among children’s toys

LANGLEY, Ky. — A Floyd County pair was arrested when police went to conduct a welfare check on three children, only to find a variety of drugs mixed in with their toys.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Langley home of Kristina Blankenship, 28, to look in on the children, ages 2, 6 and 7.

When a deputy arrived, he found a man standing on the second-floor porch who appeared to be smoking marijuana. When police got in the home, they found the man, identified as 21-year-old Dustin Hoover, of Eastern, had marijuana in his pockets.

They also found meth, fentanyl and drug paraphernalia mixed in with children’s toys, as well as a box of sand toys that had marijuana spread over top of it. The police report says it appeared the children had been playing with the toys when the deputy arrived.

Inside the home, Blankenship reportedly said the drugs outside belonged to Hoover, who she said had been staying with her after her “baby daddy” went to boot camp. However, she pointed police to a shoe box containing a small amount of Neurontin and marijuana, which she said was hers.

Blankenship and Hoover were arrested and charged with three counts of wanton endangerment and numerous drug charges. Each is being held on a $25,000 cash bond.
