UNITE Pike Coalition meeting

Pike County, Ky: The UNITE Pike Coalition hosted it’s monthly meeting, Wednesday, at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Pikeville. Wednesday’s speaker was Mike Townsend who serves as the Recovery Kentucky Administrator with the Kentucky Housing Corporation. Townsend has been with the program for twelve years. Sites for the corporation are statewide and are anywhere from Paducah to Harlan. Townsend shared statistics Wednesday and says because of the work that has been done across the state, the facilities are being used as a national model to help men and women recover from addiction.

“It’s an initiative that was started by the Kentucky housing corporation that was supported by state government to help address the opioid addiction problem in Kentucky. Fortunately Kentucky got ahead of the curve by developing these programs in 2004 and now at the end of this month we will have fourteen 100 bed recovery centers across Kentucky, for men and women, for long term recovery from addiction”

The facilities are free of charge.
