Pikeville, Ky: The University of Pikeville has announced that graduation exercises will be held on Saturday, May 19th. The medical school commencement begins at 9:30 that morning at the East Kentucky Expo Center. The commencement for the College of Arts and Sciences, the Coleman College of Business, the Elliott School of Nursing and the Patton College of Education will be held at 2 that afternoon. Dr. Martin Levine will be the keynote speaker for both commencement ceremonies. Levine is the interim clinical dean and professor of family and community medicine at the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Harlem. He previously served as the 115th president of the American Osteopathic Association. He was also at Boston Marathon during the 2013 bombings, and he immediately put his medical skills to use helping the victims. In addition to the commencement exercises, a pinning ceremony for nursing students will be held 7 o’clock on the evening of Thursday, May 17th, on the seventh floor of the Health Professions Education Building. Graduates of the social work program will be recognized during a pinning ceremony on Friday, May 18th, at 6 p.m., in Booth Auditorium, located in Record Memorial Building.
