Video Lands Woman In Jail

Pikeville, KY — A Pikeville store’s surveillance video landed a Pikeville woman in jail. According to arrest citations, Pikeville Police responded Saturday evening to the Dollar General store on Thompson Road in reference to a theft. Officers report that a store employee’s purse had been stolen along with store items. After reviewing the surveillance video, officers were able to identify the vehicle that the suspect left in. After a short investigation, officers located the vehicle and the driver identified 38-year-old Misty Dawn Nichols as the suspect. Nichols was found in a bathroom in an apartment and as officers attempted to place Nichols under arrest, she attempted to punch the officer who then physically subdued her and handcuffed her. Nichols continued to attempt to pull away as she was led to the cruiser. After being secured in the cruiser, Nichols complained of leg pain and was taken to the Pikeville Medical Center Emergency Room where she became combative and abusive toward hospital staff. Nichols was given medical clearance for the leg pain and the severe meth intoxication she was exhibiting. Nichols was then transported to the Pike County Detention Center and charged with Theft by unlawful taking for the store employee’s purse and theft by unlawful taking for $12.00 in merchandise taken from the store, Resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
