
The Lady Blackcats controlled the net Tuesday night, sweeping Betsy Layne 3-0 in a home volleyball matchup.
Prestonsburg sealed the win with set scores of 25-23, 25-14 and 25-20.
Ally Hamilton powered the attack with 16 kills, adding a block and an assist. The senior continues to be the team’s go-to option, bringing her season totals to 163 kills, 29 blocks and 14 assists. Teammate Katie Slone provided another spark with 12 kills, pushing her season mark to 79.
For Betsy Layne, standout Jayden Jarrell turned in another strong effort with 15 kills and two assists. Jarrell has been dominant throughout the year, now sitting at 240 kills and 67 assists.
The win improves Prestonsburg to 3-10, while Betsy Layne falls to 9-7. Prestonsburg is back in action Thursday at home against Jenkins at 7:30 p.m., while Betsy Layne travels to Floyd Central tonight for a 6:30 p.m. matchup.
Elsewhere in area volleyball Tuesday night, Belfry topped Martin County 3-1, East Ridge downed Phelps 3-1, Floyd Central swept Lawrence County 3-0, Paintsville blanked Pike Central 3-0, Pikeville outlasted Johnson Central 3-1 and Shelby Valley swept Leslie County 3-0.
