LOUISA, Ky. — An expired tag and suspended license led to a West Virginia man being arrested on drug trafficking charges in Louisa Wednesday.

Sammy Cooper, 35, of Prichard, W.Va., was stopped by a Lawrence County sheriff’s deputy just before 11 Wednesday night for the expired tag. He informed the deputy his license had been suspended.

Police then searched his car, where they found a black bag with scales, needles and plastic bags, as well as a can of Comet cleanser with a false bottom. Once the false bottom was removed, police discovered 12 grams of meth.

Cooper was arrested and charged with meth trafficking and possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and numerous traffic violations.
